SCNext Top 25 – The best girls’ high school basketball teams

Westlake (Georgia) ran the table last year and brought home the GEICO Nationals championship. Graduation and transfers make a repeat highly unlikely.

It is a wide-open field this season. DeSoto (Texas) boasts three espnW 100 players. Montverde Academy (Florida) added Georgia-bound star Janiah Barker to its roster. La Jolla Country Day and Sierra Canyon are two of California’s premier high schools.

There were several key tournaments that took place during the holiday season. Etiwanda High School (California) went to Phoenix and defeated Classen SAS (Oklahoma) 53-51 to win the Nike Tournament of Champions in December. DME (Florida) won the United Bank Holiday Invitational, defeating intrastate rival Lake Highland Prep 54-41.

St. John Vianney (New Jersey) started its season with two impressive wins at Super Games at the Shore, and continued its winning ways by beating DME and Lake Highland Prep at the Tampa Bay Christmas Invitational.
